![]() In practice, these regions are just about impossible to complete because there is simply far too much space. ![]() Proper use of these extremely large regions requires having a computer running a 64-bit operating system, and having both the game and SC4 Mapper patched with the 4GB patch. Then there's the practical limitation of how the game shows the region preview-the region may be rendered, but you may be unable to pan the view until reaching the outermost parts (usually the upper right corner). I'd call regions exceeding this limit as belonging to the extra large category. In my case, this translated to finding problems with regions where the largest dimension exceeded this value, I tested in the 84 and 88 km size range. In that original set-up, I did get them to render, but then the saving of developed cities resulted in glitchiness and file corruption. The long-gone grandmaster of SC4 mapping himself, actually has a small selection of incredibly large regions which exceed the 80 x 80 small city tiles (81.92 x 81.92 real km) limit I found when using 8GB of RAM on a 64-bit OS and SC4 Mapper out of the box. Larger sizes are doable if you apply the 4GB patch to SC4 Mapper.
